Best Wishes for 2019

January 1, 2019

Where did the year go? It's amazing to think Christmas is over and the New Year is here! To everyone at Lake Forest Shores, I hope you had a fantastic 2018. Wishing all of you a Happy New Year! It's time to reflect upon your accomplishments and the challenges you faced throughout the year, but look forward to more adventures in 2019 by setting new goals and dreams.

It's time to enjoy the New Year by drinking some champagne and celebrating 2019.
Let's start with a reminder that Christmas tree trash pick-ups will last until January 8, 2019 (one more week). Please make sure to remove all ornaments, lights and stand from the tree. Cut the tree in half if it is over 6ft tall and place it next to your trash container.

If you miss the collection period, you can always schedule for a bulky item pick-up. To my knowledge, you're allowed 2 FREE pick-ups per year.

Also, remember that your votes for the Lake Forest Shores Board of Directors are due January 16, 2019 by 6:30pm. A copy of the "Irrevocable Secret Ballot" is attached. As you know, each lot/residence is able to cast a total of 3 votes. One vote can be allocated to each candidate, or simply given to one or two of the candidates, but it must not exceed 3 votes. Regarding the IRS Revenue Ruling 70-604, please refer to one of my previous blog.

If you're searching for specifics regarding the upcoming "Notice of Annual Meeting and Election", it can be downloaded by clicking the link. In addition, I've uploaded the "ballot instructions" for your review.

The next item hits our pocket books...Ugh! Yep, Lake Forest Community Association (Beach & Tennis Clubhouse) has increased their HOA fee for 2019 totalling $125. If you're wondering where the money is going, you can request a copy to be downloaded from Elite Property Services by contacting Julie Carter: jcarter@elitehoa.com.

Personally, I don't know anything about accounting, except how to pay my bills. Therefore, I don't know the reason for the increases in the last several years, but based on the minimum of $125 per 1701 members that equates to $2.5+ million annually. My guess is they're getting ready to do some major renovations within the neighborhood. In my opinion, it's a small increase, but no increase would have been better.

I say, start using the amenities at the Beach & Tennis Clubhouse. If not, it's the same as throwing $125 out the window each month. Also, start attending those HOA meetings.

Notwithstanding the above, our HOA fees at Lake Forest Shores remains the same for 2019...Yay! Hopefully the unfortunate incident that happened to our intercom system at the main gates won't affect us:

Accident that happened at the main gates of Lake Forest Shores, resulting in a damaged intercom system.
Whoever thought this could happen?

Anyways, please don't forget that every household gets one FREE annual guest card that is available at the Beach & Tennis Clubhouse. This allows you to get one guest in for FREE up to 12 times a year.

As for upcoming events, the Super Bowl Party is on Sunday, February 3, 2019 from 2:30pm - 7:30pm. Enjoy delicious food, drinks and prizes for $10 per person. Tickets can be purchased starting on January 7, 2019.

For those who enjoy art, there is "Paint & Slip" that takes place on Saturday, January 12, 2019 from 4:00pm - 7:00pm. There will be a social hour for the 1st hour, and painting to showcase your artistic talents from 5:00pm - 7:00pm. All materials will be provided and step-by-step instructions will be given by professionals. All participants need to be 21 years of age or older, and the cost per ticket is $20 if purchased by January 3, 2019 or $25 if purchased between January 4 - 12, 2019. (No refunds after registration)

Lastly, there is a "Trivia Night" on Friday, January 18, 2019 from 7:00pm - 9:00pm in the Lake View Lounge. Teams must have 2-4 participants, and guest can attend the fun for $5 each. So, put on your thinking caps, hang out with friends and neighbors, and showcase your knowledge of random facts.

That's it! I look forward to writing more in the coming year. Thank you for taking the time to visit my site and showing your support. ^.^
