Truly Life Changing

May 13, 2023

Halfway though 2023 and this is the first update of the year. It's unfortunate, but life can throw a curve ball at times; and I'm not into baseball. My issue was health related. Let's just say, I'm very fortunate to be given another opportunity at life. For those who work in the medical field, I'm sure you've heard the term "widowmaker". It's something that has made me realize the error of my ways when it comes to living a healthier lifestyle, but I did enjoy living my life without precautions. Now, I just have to be more careful with some of my bad habits. I guess the quote, "Everything in moderation" by Oscar Wilde, holds true.

So moving forward, a lot has happened within the last few months. I didn't have the motivation or energy to update the website, but I'm going to give it a try. Let's see if my memory serves me right.

Mother's Day graphic text with a beautil rose in the center.
But first, let's get right into wishing a "HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY" to all the moms! We wouldn't be around without you; biological and non-biological you all make a difference. Thank you for all you do!

And now, let's start with news dealing with Lake Forest Shores. On Monday, April 14, 2023, there was tree trimming. The tree trimmers showed up early and by the afternoon, everyone had left. It seemed to have been a one day project. I didn't see a difference, so it must have been for specific areas.

UPDATE: The tree trimming will continue on Tuesday, May 23, 2023.

On Monday, March 13, 2023, notices regarding the parking permit renewals were sent via email or U.S. Post Office; depending on your preferred method of delivery. By now, I would think everyone has submitted email contact information to Crummack Huseby, the management company.

The notice stated that as of Saturday, April 1, 2023, the previously issued parking permits would no longer be valid. Residents will have to request a new parking permit that will be renewed bi-annually. Permits will be valid from April 1, 2023 to March 31, 2025.

By now, anyone who qualifies to park in the common areas overnight should have applied for a VALID parking permit. If not and your vehicle is parked in the common areas between the hours of 12:00am - 6:00am, your vehicle could be subject to a citation and/or tow.

As always, guest vehicles parked overnight in the common areas will have to be placed on the safelist with Courtesy Patrol.

Here is a copy of the detailed notice with he attached application for applying or renewing your parking permit: Parking Permit Notice.

The balconies were inspected by Ridgeline Construction starting Feb. 15 - 17, 2023. I've never been present during an inspection, but it most likely focuses on the structural integrity of the balconies and waterproofing.

As for the entrance gate, I don't know. I'm confused. I have no idea if the gate code is still supposed to be used or do guests / visitors dial the directory using the occupant's name.

It's a mystery to me, so let's label that one "X-files".

And lastly, there's an app for everything. Crummack Huseby has come out with the CH Connect mobile app. Click on the link to watch how to access and navigate the app: YouTube - CH Connect.

You'll be able to update your profile and contact information, access your account balance and make secure online payments. It's actually the same thing with the desktop version, but you'll be able to access your account from anywhere with your mobile device.

As for the Beach & Tennis Club, I'm only going to focus on upcoming events, starting with the Memorial Day Champagne Brunch. It's on Monday, May 29, 2023 from 9:00am - 6:00pm. It's $15 per guest. Last day to purchase your tickets will be Wednesday, May 24, 2023. There will be plenty of fun activities for everyone to enjoy; face painting, potato sack race, big splash contect, water balloon toss, watermellon eating contest and so much more.

Starting Saturday, May 27, 2023, lifeguards will be on duty everyday from 11:00am to 6:00pm. Yep, that's the sign that summer is right around the corner. Unbelievable, but the school year is coming to an end.

On Saturday, May 20, 2023, there will be a FREE shred day which is sponsored by Mike Doyle Real Estate.

And if you're wondering how to keep the kids busy during the summer, you can always sign them up for the 2023 Summer League. It gives them an opportunity to swim on a team from June 5th - July 28th. It's an 8-week session priced at $500 which includes a TYR suit, cap and team shirt.

It's been announced that Tai Chi classes have been discontinued due to the lack of participants. Maybe it will come back at a later time.

This concludes our first post of 2023. I hope everyone is having a GREAT year. Wishing you all good health, lots of love, friendships and of course, the ability to keep up with the demanding high cost of living...Ugh!
