For the Love of February

February 10, 2019

Valentine's Day is around the corner and at Lake Forest Shores, love is in the air; even with the rainy days.
Time to get into the month of love and bring attention to those who make our lives special. Yep, it is Valentine's Day in a couple days, so make sure you recognize those that make a difference in your life.

As for what's been happening in the last several weeks, well it's been wet. Some love it, and others are waiting for the sun to rise again. Myself, I'm enjoying every drop! For those who aren't fond of the rain, there is some good news in the horizon; the sun will rise again and Lake Forest Shores has a rebuilt intercom system at the main gate.

In addition, the property located at 24216 Jasper Lake Lane "finally" sold. I believe the property had been vacant for the longest time. Glad to know someone will be taking possession of it. The selling price was fair, but it does require a lot of TLC. Congratulations to the new owner(s)!

As a reminder, if you are not making automatic HOA payments via your financial institute, you may want to consider using the online portal @ www.ch-pm.com. The process is very simple, and you can opt to use the one-time or automatic payment method; each for a minimal fee.

Besides the above, please try to attend the Board meetings. I've noticed they're no longer on the 3rd week of "X" day, but change often, so there is no consistency. Crummack Huseby sends out email notices about the next date/time of the meeting, but sometimes with limited notice. Nonetheless, I will update the website forthwith upon knowledge of any meetings.

Of course, I seem to be the biggest culprit on preaching the importance of attending board meetings, yet I consistently fail to show up. Either way, the next board meeting holds interesting items of discussion: patrol (Courtesy Patrol Specialists - heard of them, but are they still around?), pool operating costs (is something in the works?) and maintenance matrix (???).

Another topic to be discussed at a later time is the "Notice of Proposed Community Rules and Regulations Change" that was sent via USPS. I have not thoroughly read the notice, but it's about making changes to the current election process—this should be interesting.

Lastly, the Beach & Tennis Clubhouse is having a few fun-filled events scheduled in the next couple days:

Grape Escape Wine Tasting
The fun begins Friday, February 15th (7:00pm - 9:00pm) in the Lake View Lounge. Tickets are available for $15 per person, which includes six 1.5 oz. wine tastings. Glasses and bottles will be available for sale, so bring your thirst and sip away! Ah yes, you must be 21 years of age or older.

Parent's Night Out
This is about allowing parents to have a night off to enjoy a romantic getaway in celebration of Valentine's Day. It is Saturday, February 16th (6:00pm - 9:00pm) and the cost is $20 per child (5-10 years only). Kids will have a great time learning about the butterfly life cycle, engage in crafts and the screening of "A Bug's Life".

Murder Mystery Dinner
Think you're smarter than Sherlock Holmes or Columbo, then prove it! This is a James Bond themed event where guests will enjoy a murder mystery play experience. The fun begins on Saturday, February 23rd (6:00pm - 8:30pm). The cost is $20 per ticket if purchased before February 17th, or $25 between February 18th - 23rd. Cocktail & buffet starts at 6:00pm, and the show starts promptly at 7:00pm, so don't be late.

That's it for now, but this year I might make some changes to the website. I've realized the challenges of finding service providers for kitchen remodeling, air conditioning replacement, plumbing, fixing window sills & trims, etc. If you are a Lake Forest Shores homeowner / resident and interested in advertising your business, let me know. Whether it is a pet sitting service, yoga instructor, house cleaning, massage therapist, handyman—it doesn't matter.

Truthfully, I don't know how many people visit my site and I'm sure it's a small number, but your business could be beneficial to a few. Unless it is a business owned by someone outside the Lake Forest Shores community, the cost is FREE! Therefore, you have nothing to lose. ^.^

Anyways, it is still a thought due to the possibility of getting rid of the "poll" section. Sorry, I'm not creative enough to keep coming up with questions to poll each month or year...Ugh!
