Fun-tastic Spring Activities

March 17, 2018

They say, "If you can get past January and February, you'll MARCH right on through the rest of the year." It seems the 1st day of Spring is right around the corner and the Easter bunny is a hop away, so time to plan some fun activities, including Spring cleaning (believe it or not, but there are people who look forward to it.) Whatever your plans, one of my top picks has always been the Lake Forest Beach & Tennis Club due to its close proximity, aesthetics, amenities (tennis courts, fitness center, Jr. Olympic swimming pool, beach & lagoon, basketball court, clubhouse, kitchen, sand volleyball court, pool tables, barbecues, bar, lounge and FREE wifi) and the fact that you have to pay a monthly HOA fee, so use it!

Let's get started with the Annual Pancake Breakfast on March 31, 2018 that will be served by Boy Scout Troop 628 from 9:00am - 11:00am which includes fun activities: egg hunt, music, games, face painting, bounce house, crafts and a petting zoo. This is one event that is not to be missed, so bring the whole family and have a great time!

Regarding EASTER SUNDAY, it's on April Fools Day this year! Huh? Yes, the Tennis & Beach Club will be closed.

For all of you dance-a-holics, there is "Line Dancing with Rosa" on Tuesday nights from 6:45pm - 7:45pm for those wanting to learn or improve their dancing skills. The event is quite popular and reasonably priced @ $35 per person for the month.

Other fun events are the Family Fun Night "Dinosaurs Rock" featuring a museum exhibit with a hands-on fossil dig for kids to enjoy. This will take place on Friday, March 23, 2018, from 7:00pm to 8:00pm, and let's not forget the pizza dinner prior to the show from 6:00pm - 7:00pm.

As for those who want to test their singing abilities in front of the masses, there's "Friday Night Bar & Karaoke" in the upstairs Lake View Lounge. This is a great way to loosen up after work with singing, dancing, cocktails, and interacting with your friends & neighbors.

If you're craving green beer on St. Patrick's Day, then don't drive, WALK! Support your local businesses by visiting "Our Place" in the Albertson's shopping center. A true hidden gem that is open until 2:00am this St. Patrick's Day on March 17th, so you'll have plenty of time to celebrate going "green". A couple reasons why "Our Place" is worth mentioning is the location, atmosphere, food & drinks (the real deal), staff and live entertainment. It can get crowded inside, so arrive early or risk sitting outside.

Lastly, it's worth mentioning that SPRING BREAK (April 2 - 6) is only a couple weeks away for students in the Saddleback Valley Unified School District. What does that mean for you? Hopefully less traffic on your morning commute, but probably a bit more activity poolside at the Lake Forest Tennis and Beach Club unless they plan to escape to a popular far away destination. This is their time to let off a bit of steam from what seems like endless hours of studying. We've all been there, so let them enjoy it.
